A speculum may be used to visualize the cervix and vaginal walls. Swabs may be taken for laboratory testing if indicated. The procedure typically takes 5 to 15 minutes. Results are discussed with you directly by the physician at the same appointment. This is an in-person clinical procedure performed under proper medical conditions — not a walk-in service.
